Ambuj Kumar is a former electrical engineer who co-founded Fortanix, a cloud data security platform. After leaving Nvidia, he noticed challenges in the cybersecurity industry that inspired him to create Simbian, an AI-powered platform that automates cybersecurity workflows. By leveraging AI, Simbian can orchestrate and operate existing security tools, reducing the operational burden for organizations.

Kumar explains that the cybersecurity industry is fragmented, with organizations juggling an average of 76 security tools. Simbian aims to streamline this process by providing personalized recommendations and automated actions based on a company’s security priorities. To ensure the AI’s accuracy, Simbian used a crowdsourcing approach to train the AI and address potential errors.

While privacy concerns exist with a centralized AI-controlled system, Kumar assures that Simbian uses encryption and allows customers to control their encryption keys. Despite other platforms attempting to apply AI to security tools, Simbian has received $10 million in funding from investors, including Gokul Rajaram and Aditya Singh. Rajaram praises Simbian’s integrated platform approach and unique team experience.

Based in Mountain View, Simbian plans to use the funding for product development and aims to double its workforce by the end of the year. With a focus on simplifying cybersecurity workflows and reducing the number of alerts security analysts need to respond to, Simbian aims to innovate in the cybersecurity industry by leveraging AI technology.
