-Visited two different Costco stores in the Midwest and New York City
-New York City store felt more crowded due to smaller size
-Prices and offerings were mostly identical, with different soda options in the food courts
I recently visited two Costco stores, one in the Midwest and one in New York City. The New York City location was smaller and felt more crowded compared to the Midwest store. Despite this, the prices and offerings at both stores were mostly identical, with the only noticeable difference being the sodas offered in the food courts.
Coming from Wisconsin and now living in New York City, I enjoy comparing the similarities and differences between the two regions. As part of a series comparing nationwide chains in both regions, I visited Costco locations in both Wisconsin and Manhattan. My $60 Gold Star membership allows me entry into all Costco stores, which are known for offering bulk items at lower prices than many retailers.
Costco is a popular brand across the US and the world, with net sales totaling $237.71 billion in the 2023 fiscal year. While Costco stores are generally standardized, I was curious to see if there were any regional variations in prices, items, and the overall shopping experience. My visits to the Midwest and New York City locations allowed me to discover some surprising differences between the two stores.
