Emeren Group and Glennmont Partners have entered a co-development agreement to advance 155MW of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Italy. These projects will be located in southern Italy’s Campania region, with construction set to begin by the end of 2025 and the projects expected to be operational by early 2027. The partners will jointly construct a portfolio of projects in Campania and Puglia with a combined capacity exceeding 150MW. This collaboration aims to expand Emeren’s project portfolio in Italy and drive successful project development to achieve a greener future.

Glennmont Partners’ partner and CFO, Francesco Cacciabue, expressed excitement about partnering with Emeren Group to develop battery storage capacity in southern Italy. He believes these projects have the potential to make a significant impact on renewable energy investment goals in the region and beyond. With advancements in battery storage technology, the new portfolio is expected to generate strong returns for investors and enhance the resilience of the renewable energy sector on a larger scale.

In related transactions, Emeren completed the sale of two Italian BESS projects to Matrix Renewables and signed a development services agreement to develop a 1.5GW BESS portfolio. Additionally, Danish energy company Ørsted agreed to divest a 50% interest in the Gode Wind 3 offshore wind farm in Germany to Glennmont Partners. This transaction, valued at €473m, covers the acquisition cost and half of the project’s construction expenses.
