Commerz Real has acquired the Lumivaara wind farm in Finland for its Klimavest fund. The wind farm consists of eight turbines with a nominal output of 45.6 MW and was delivered on a turnkey basis by the seller Energiequelle. This purchase comes after Commerz Real had previously acquired two other wind farms in Finland from the same developer.

With the addition of the Lumivaara wind farm, Klimavest now owns a total of four operational wind farms in Finland with a combined output of over 170 MW. This investment in Finnish wind energy is part of Commerz Real’s strategy to focus on profitable renewable energy properties in countries like Spain, Germany, France, and Sweden.

The legal framework in Finland for the construction and operation of subsidy-free wind farms is favorable, making it an attractive market for investors like Commerz Real. The Lumivaara wind farm is located in Hyrynsalmi, in the Kainuu region of Finland, and is expected to be able to meet the annual electricity needs of more than 20,000 Finnish households. The park is being managed by Nordex for maintenance and Energiequelle for technical and commercial management.
