EverWind Fuels, a prominent North American green fuels hub developer based in Atlantic Canada, has partnered with officials from the Province of Nova Scotia and the Port of Rotterdam to advance the green hydrogen supply chain. The Port of Rotterdam is Europe’s largest seaport and plays a crucial role in energy distribution in Northwest Europe, particularly to Germany’s industrial heartland. Through this partnership, EverWind’s green hydrogen production from Atlantic Canada will support the establishment of an international hub in the Port of Rotterdam for hydrogen production, import, application, and transport to other European countries.
The Port of Rotterdam currently handles three times more energy than the entire Netherlands consumes and aims to import eighteen million tonnes of hydrogen by 2050. There are ongoing developments in the Port to receive green ammonia as early as 2026, with plans to connect ammonia and hydrogen users within the complex to green fuel corridors. EverWind has completed front-end engineering design for their green hydrogen and green ammonia production facility, making it the first large-scale facility of its kind in North America.
