Lhyfe, a leader in green and renewable hydrogen production, has secured financial support from the French government in the form of a grant worth up to €149 million. This funding will be used for the construction of a green hydrogen production plant near Le Havre with an electrolysis capacity of 100 MW. The project has been in development for over two years and is part of the third wave of the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) program on hydrogen, approved by the European Commission.
During a visit to Le Havre, the French Delegate Minister for Industry and Energy confirmed the government’s support for Lhyfe’s project, which aims to produce up to 34 tons per day of green hydrogen near the Grand Canal du Havre. The project site is strategically located in an industrial port area, close to the Yara plant in Le Havre, which is keen on exploring collaborations with Lhyfe to decarbonize its industrial processes. The construction of the production site in Gonfreville-l’Orcher is expected to be completed by 2028.
This project is seen as a significant step towards meeting the challenges of industrial decarbonization in the Le Havre region, and Lhyfe’s involvement signifies its key role in the renewable hydrogen industry.
