Invenergy Wind LLC recently launched its first onshore wind power plant, the Rusutsu Wind Power Plant, on March 14, 2024. This plant is situated in Rusutsu Village, Abuta District, around 60 km southwest of Sapporo, Hokkaido. Despite challenging geographical and meteorological conditions like heavy snowfall, the project successfully maximized the region’s renewable energy generation capacity by utilizing 15 large-scale wind turbines from GE Vernova, each with an output of 4.2 MW, totaling 63 MW. This will reduce carbon emissions by 64,000 tpy and provide electricity for about 35,000 households in Hokkaido.
Invenergy Wind LLC is proud of this accomplishment and grateful for the cooperation of partner companies that facilitated the completion of the project. The company has been involved in Japan for over a decade, primarily focusing on solar power projects. The Rusutsu Wind Farm is their first onshore wind project in Japan, reflecting their dedication to supporting the nation’s clean energy objectives. To further expand their presence, Invenergy has appointed Masayuki Oya as the Japan General Manager to oversee operations and develop additional wind projects. The Spring 2024 issue of Energy Global magazine will cover this exciting development, along with other technical articles on renewable energy technologies.
