RheinEnergie, an energy service provider based in Cologne, has partnered with The Mobility House, a company in Munich, to integrate vehicle to grid (V2G) technology into the energy and e-mobility sectors. This partnership will allow electric vehicle batteries to be intelligently integrated into the grid, with RheinEnergie investing an undisclosed amount into The Mobility House.
Through this collaboration, RheinEnergie aims to expand its digital and interconnected services related to real estate and mobility. The Mobility House CEO, Thomas Raffeiner, mentioned that the partnership will accelerate their vision of emission-free and cost-effective charging for electric vehicles.
The Mobility House focuses on transforming mobile and stationary electric vehicle batteries into ‘swarm storage’, promoting the integration of renewable energies and reducing CO2 emissions. They manage approximately 100MWh of vehicle batteries in Germany, France, and the Netherlands, utilizing them in energy and power markets.
In addition, The Mobility House, in cooperation with Mobilize, a brand of the Renault Group, will launch the first commercial V2G offering in the European market in 2024. Dr. Herbert Diess, former CEO of Volkswagen Group, has joined The Mobility House as the new executive chairman of the board, succeeding Dr. Alexander Landia, an energy market expert.
