RWE buys solar and energy storage projects totaling 599MW in the US

1. RWE Clean Energy acquired a 599MW portfolio of three solar and battery energy storage systems projects in the US.
2. The projects are located in Idaho, Washington State, and New York, and are at various stages of development.
3. The projects include a 300MW solar facility with a 150MW/600MWh energy storage system, a 199MW standalone battery energy storage system, and a 100MW solar photovoltaic project in New York.

RWE Clean Energy, a subsidiary of German utility RWE, has acquired a 599MW portfolio of three solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects in the US. These projects are at various stages of development in Idaho, Washington State, and New York. The Cedar Ridge project in Blaine County, Idaho, features a 300MW solar facility coupled with a 150MW/600MWh energy storage system designed to support the regional grid. The Remington project in Marion County, Oregon, consists of a 199MW standalone BESS, while the Champlain project in Washington County, New York, is a 100MW solar PV initiative aimed at meeting energy demand in the New York market.

RWE’s expansion in the US signifies a boost in its renewable energy footprint in key states. The acquisition from Galehead Development includes projects aligned with utility PacifiCorp’s resource planning. RWE plans to work with local communities to communicate the benefits of these projects, create jobs, and support the local economies. Galehead Development sees this partnership as a validation of its efforts in navigating complex market environments and is eager to collaborate with RWE on future projects. RWE also secured a license to develop the Seohae offshore wind project in South Korea, marking its presence in the offshore wind sector in the country.
