PNE AG has sold a 240 MW photovoltaic (PV) project in South Africa to NOA Group Ltd. The project, known as Khauta, will be located in the Free State province and is expected to reach full development by mid-2024. PNE will continue to support the project through WKN Windcurrent, a company within the PNE Group, with the possibility of expanding the project size in the future.

Markus Lesser, CEO of PNE AG, expressed excitement about the successful sale in the South African market, highlighting the partnership with NOA as a step towards a more secure power supply through clean energy. NOA CEO, Karel Cornelissen, sees the Khauta project as a significant addition to their portfolio, aiming to address the energy supply deficit in South Africa with the support of their shareholder, African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM).

PNE has been involved in the South African market since 2010, with wind and PV projects totaling around 4 GW/GWp. They are also active in green hydrogen projects in the region. The latest issue of Energy Global magazine covers details on this project and other topics such as battery storage, renewables in Europe, electrical infrastructure, turbine monitoring, and more.
