Parloa, a conversational AI platform, recently raised $66 million in a Series B round, a year after raising $21 million from European investors. The German company is focusing on expanding its presence in the U.S. market, where it has already signed up several Fortune 200 companies. Altimeter Capital, a leading U.S.-based VC firm, is the lead backer in this latest round.
With AI and automation becoming increasingly important in customer service, companies like Parloa are seeing significant interest from investors. Established players like Kore.ai and newcomer Sierra, founded by Bret Taylor, have also raised substantial amounts of funding. Parloa, founded in 2018, has high-profile customers like Swiss Life and Decathlon, using its platform to automate customer communications.
Parloa’s focus on “voice first” technology is a key differentiator for the company, according to CEO Malte Kosub. Co-founder and CTO Stefan Ostwald emphasized that AI has been an integral part of Parloa’s operations since its inception, utilizing a mix of proprietary and open-source language models for speech-to-text applications. The company plans to use the new funding to further expand its operations in Europe and the U.S.
With investors like Altimeter, EQT Ventures, Newion, Senovo, Mosaic Ventures, and La Familia Growth contributing to its Series B round, Parloa has now raised a total of $98 million in funding. The company aims to continue its rapid growth trajectory, with Kosub noting that they have already seen tripled revenue in each of the past three years.
