2. Water network losses reduced to a record low of 4.6% by the end of 2023.
3. DEWA’s smart water infrastructure includes advanced technologies like smart meters, SCADA center, and Hydronet project for efficient management and monitoring.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has saved AED225 million (US$61 million) over the past decade through its smart water network, reducing water network losses to a record low of 4.6% by the end of 2023. The company’s commitment to innovation and technology has played a crucial role in this success. Advanced sensors and data analytics enable real-time monitoring, efficient resource management, and quick response to any disruptions in the system.

The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) center is a key component of DEWA’s smart water network, providing real-time hydraulic modeling, training simulation systems, and advanced reporting tools. With an investment of AED7 billion ($1.9 billion), DEWA’s smart grid initiative includes the deployment of smart meters and other technologies to help customers manage their electricity and water usage effectively.

DEWA’s smart water initiatives also include the Hydronet project using AI and deep learning to monitor and control the water network, as well as smart water distribution management systems, pressure management, and leak detection technologies. DEWA serves over 1.2 million customers in Dubai and is committed to enhancing efficiency and sustainability in water production and use in line with the Dubai Integrated Water Resource Management Strategy 2030.
