– ACCIONA Energía starts operations at Red-Tailed Hawk PV plant in Texas, largest solar complex with capacity of 458 MWp
– Joining existing renewable energy projects in North America, reinforcing company’s position in energy transition
– Features solar panels on trackers for maximum sunlight exposure, part of Social Impact Management programme supporting local community initiatives
ACCIONA Energía has recently launched the Red-Tailed Hawk photovoltaic plant, the largest solar complex they have built so far. Located near Houston in Texas, this plant has a capacity of 458 MWp. This project reinforces the company’s presence in North America, where they now have 2.7 GW of installed renewable energy projects. In addition to the Red-Tailed Hawk plant, the company is also working on other renewable energy projects in Canada and the US.
The Red-Tailed Hawk plant utilizes solar panels affixed to solar trackers that follow the sun’s path, maximizing sunlight exposure and energy production. It is expected to generate 742 GWh of clean electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of around 66,500 Texas households, and will help avoid the emission of approximately 430,000 tons of carbon dioxide each year. Not only does this project contribute to decarbonization, but it also creates job opportunities, with around 400 jobs generated during the peak construction phase and sustaining up to 15 permanent positions.
ACCIONA Energía’s Social Impact Management program ensures that a portion of the annual revenue is allocated to support local community initiatives in education, wellness, and environmental stewardship. Beyond providing clean energy, the Red-Tailed Hawk plant is dedicated to making a positive impact on the local community.
