– Entergy Louisiana’s proposal to add three gigawatts of solar power has been approved by the Louisiana Public Service Commission
– The approval will streamline the procurement and approval process for several solar resources in Louisiana
– Entergy Louisiana is committed to growing its renewable energy resources by 2031 and achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050
Entergy Louisiana has received approval from the Louisiana Public Service Commission to add up to three gigawatts of economic solar power to its generation portfolio, the largest renewable power expansion in state history. This move highlights the company’s commitment to meeting operation, sustainability, economic development, and environmental protection needs. The approval enables a streamlined procurement process for solar resources within Louisiana, benefiting local communities through job creation and additional tax revenues while attracting new industries and jobs that seek clean energy. This initiative aligns with Entergy Corporation’s plans to increase its renewable energy resources by 2031 and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Entergy Louisiana currently has around 230 megawatts of renewable resources, including the Capital Region Solar facility. The approval of additional solar projects earlier this year brings the company’s total solar portfolio to over 3,800 MW in various stages of development and approval. This expansion is a significant step toward creating a more sustainable future for Louisiana and supporting the growth of clean energy in the state.
