3. The personal voice feature will be available in limited registration-only access, with plans to roll out to users in the U.S., Canada, Australia, South Africa, India, Sweden, and Chile in the coming weeks.

AI technology has already begun to replace voice agents in customer service, and now companies are looking to replace computer-generated voices with synthetic versions of human voices. Truecaller, a popular caller ID service, has partnered with Microsoft to introduce a new feature that allows users to use their own voice as the AI Assistant to answer phone calls. This new experience is made possible by Microsoft’s Personal Voice technology, which allows Truecaller users to create a digital version of their voice to interact with callers.

Users can record a short script of their voice to create a digital copy that will be used by the AI Assistant to greet and respond to callers. While users can customize follow-up responses, the initial greeting template is restricted to indicate that it is a digital version of the user’s voice. The AI Speech feature from Azure adds watermarks to identify synthetic audio outputs. Truecaller’s goal is to enhance user experience and provide innovative solutions in partnership with Microsoft through AI-powered voice technologies.

The new personal voice feature will roll out in the U.S., Canada, Australia, South Africa, India, Sweden, and Chile over the next few weeks, starting with public beta users and eventually being available to all users in eligible markets. Truecaller sees the potential for revolutionizing call management using AI-powered voice technologies and is excited to explore further possibilities with Microsoft. This partnership aims to deliver new and improved services to Truecaller’s global user base.
