Americans are protecting democracy in Ukraine, not funding war, says Zelenskyy.

– Zelenskyy said Americans are not funding the war, but protecting democracy in Europe
– Ammo and weapons could reach Ukraine within days once aid package is signed by Biden
– Ukrainians are fighting so that the US and NATO countries don’t have to

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Americans for their aid in supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia, stating that they are not funding the war but protecting democracy in Europe. He emphasized that Ukrainians are fighting so that the US and others don’t have to directly engage in the conflict. Once the aid package is passed by the Senate and signed by President Biden, crucial ammunition and weapons could reach Ukraine in a matter of days.

Despite some fatigue among Americans regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine, Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of US support during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” The $60 billion aid package, which passed the House of Representatives despite Republican dissent, is now expected to be approved by the Senate. President Biden has indicated his intention to sign the legislation, enabling vital resources to reach Ukraine and help push back against Russian aggression.

Zelenskyy stressed that as long as Ukraine remains strong and continues to resist Russian incursions, it serves as a buffer protecting not only its own sovereignty but also the security of NATO countries. Analysts warn that a potential loss by Ukraine could embolden Russia to target NATO members, underscoring the significance of ongoing support for Ukraine in the conflict.
