Allen Weisselberg, who served as the top financial officer for the Trump Organization for 30 years, recently admitted to perjuring himself during Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial. As a result, Weisselberg surrendered himself to begin serving a previously agreed upon sentence of five months in jail. The 76-year-old acknowledged lying in a pretrial deposition and on the witness stand during last year’s trial, leading to his sentencing at Manhattan Criminal Court.
The judge ordered Weisselberg to serve the five-month sentence, which he had agreed to when pleading guilty to two felony charges of first-degree perjury. After making his final statement, the court officers handcuffed him and escorted him out of the courtroom. This is the second time Weisselberg has faced jail time in New York City, having previously served 100 days on Rikers Island for his involvement in a payroll-tax fraud scheme at the Trump Organization.
Weisselberg admitted to lying about his and Trump’s involvement in a fraudulent exaggeration related to the square footage of Trump’s penthouse triplex at Trump Tower.
