– South Park Cottages offers affordable housing options starting at $190,000
– Typical monthly mortgage payment in the community is around $1,500
– Developer of South Park Cottages is building another community in Georgia, called Union Park Cottages
South Park Cottages is a micro-home community that offers an affordable alternative to renting in Atlanta. With homes starting at $190,000 and a typical monthly mortgage payment of around $1,500, it has become a popular option for locals looking to own their homes. Due to its success, the developer is now building another community in Georgia.
Booker Washington, the owner of Techie Homes, had a vision of creating a community where everyday people could afford to buy a home. South Park Cottages, a village of 29 tiny homes ranging from $190,000 to $230,000, fulfilled this vision. The demand was evident as all 29 homes sold out over a year before they were built, showing the need for affordable homeownership options in Atlanta compared to the typical home price of $431,250.
The goal of South Park Cottages is to provide homes at a price point where mortgages are equal to or less than the cost of renting a one-bedroom apartment. This initiative addresses the issue of accessible homeownership in Atlanta and helps individuals achieve the dream of owning a home. The success of South Park Cottages has led to the development of Union Park Cottages, a second micro-home community in the area that will offer 26 homes for sale. Additionally, South Park Cottages is the first Black-owned micro-home community in the Atlanta region.
