Amphenol Industrial Operations has officially begun manufacturing solar junction boxes at its new factory in Mesa, Arizona, starting in January 2024. The facility can house up to 12 manufacturing lines, each capable of producing around 100,000 junction boxes per month. The first line is currently operational, producing 3,000 junction boxes per day, with plans to add two more lines. The facility has the potential to produce 4.8 GW of solar panels annually. In addition to junction boxes, the factory will also manufacture connectors and other interconnect assemblies for solar arrays, with production expected to begin by the end of 2024. Amphenol has already hired 70 new team members to support manufacturing efforts, with further growth expected as demand increases and more manufacturing capacity is added. General Manager Mark Cunningham emphasized the company’s commitment to creating a more sustainable solar supply chain through high-quality products and expanding their manufacturing footprint in Mesa, while also supporting the transition to cleaner energy sources.
