Exaion, a subsidiary of EDF Group, has opened the Bellevue data centre in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. This data centre is the world’s first eco-friendly and decentralised infrastructure designed for quantum hybridisation. It will provide heating and hot water to the Humano District project. The centre has advanced quantum equipment, including Quebec’s PINQ2 Platform, Quandela’s quantum computer, and Numana’s quantum key distribution testbed.
The data centre operates on over 99% renewable energy and utilizes innovative cooling technologies to recover 100% of the heat emitted by servers. Exaion’s CEO Fatih Balyeli believes the data centre represents a significant milestone in the industry, combining technological innovation and environmental sustainability.
Exaion, a 100% web3 subsidiary of EDF Group, offers digital solutions and platforms. The Humano District project is a sustainable rental condo development focused on energy efficiency, with the data centre providing heat recovery. The area, including Sherbrooke’s Quantum Innovation Zone and IBM’s Quantum System One at Bromont, is poised to become a major hub for quantum technology development.
