Collaboration between Constrat and Sigfox to implement smart water meters in Greece

– Municipality of Parga in Greece to deploy 7,000 smart water meters with Sigfox 0G technology
– Greek smart water management solution provider Constrat selected for deployment in partnership with Sigfox Hellas
– Technology to be used includes Honeywell Merlin 868 HB-G3 LPWAN communication module supporting Sigfox and WMBus protocols for high quality and reliable service.

The Municipality of Parga in northwestern Greece is set to deploy 7,000 smart water meters using Sigfox 0G technology. The deployment will be executed with the help of Greek smart water management solution provider Constrat and Sigfox Hellas, the operator of the country’s Sigfox 0G network. The technology being utilized will use the Honeywell Merlin 868 HB-G3 LPWAN communication module that supports Sigfox and WMBus protocols.

Constrat’s CEO, Kostas Stratis, expressed excitement about providing Parga with more sustainable IoT solutions through this partnership. Sigfox Hellas aims to revolutionize smart water metering in Greece by offering cost-effective solutions that can help municipalities combat water scarcity, non-revenue water, and water leakages. The company is deploying base stations in the Parga Municipality to support the project.

UnaBiz, the owner of Sigfox 0G technology, has connected over 2.6 million smart metering sensors worldwide, with a significant portion dedicated to water metering. They anticipate that this project will lead to a scaling of smart water metering in Greece. UnaBiz has also reported upgrades to the Sigfox 0G technology, including a 600bps data rate and the introduction of the N=1 repetition mode, enhancing device efficiency and reducing energy consumption significantly.
