1. Emeren Group and Nuveen Infrastructure are collaborating to establish a battery storage portfolio in Italy.
2. The partnership aims to develop 199MW of battery storage capacity across two southern Italian regions.
3. Construction on the projects is set to begin in 2025, with completion expected in early 2026.

Emeren Group, a US renewables developer, has partnered with Nuveen Infrastructure to establish a battery storage portfolio in Italy, aiming to develop 199MW of battery storage capacity in southern Italian regions. The joint effort between the two companies will result in a total power capacity of 354MW across two regions, with construction expected to start in 2025 and completion in 2026. The partnership will also develop two additional stand-alone battery storage projects in the Apulia region.

CEO of Emeren Group, Yumin Liu, expressed confidence in the partnership with Nuveen Infrastructure and highlighted the significant market potential in Italy, with a total solar project pipeline exceeding 750MW and a storage pipeline exceeding 17.1GWh. Nuveen Infrastructure’s global head, Francesco Cacciabue, emphasized the importance of projects like these in boosting southern Italy’s battery storage capacity and supporting the clean energy transition in Europe.

In addition to this partnership, Emeren Group has also signed an agreement with Glennmont Partners to advance battery energy storage system projects in Italy. This initiative includes establishing two independent battery storage projects in the Campania region of southern Italy, further expanding their portfolio of projects in the region. Both collaborations contribute to the growth of renewable energy infrastructure in Italy and support the transition towards clean energy sources.
