JM Steel, a subsidiary of JENNMAR Holdings, has expanded its Nextracker-dedicated manufacturing lines at its facility in Leetsdale, Pennsylvania, located in the former Bethlehem Steel factory. The site began producing tracker torque tubes for Nextracker in 2022, with an annual capacity of 4 GW.
Dan Shugar, founder and CEO of Nextracker, expressed excitement about the partnership with JM Steel and the expansion of the Pittsburgh facility. He mentioned that the facility will also produce core components of their new low-carbon tracker offering. Tony Calandra, CEO of JENNMAR, highlighted the historic significance of the steel factory and the creation of high-quality jobs for over 500 employees.
A dedication ceremony was held to celebrate the new facility expansion, attended by top government officials including David Crane from the Dept. of Energy, Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania Austin Davis, U.S. Congressman Chris Deluzio, and State Representative Valerie Gaydos. The partnership with Nextracker will bring significant investment in advanced manufacturing and revitalize the community by bringing jobs back to Pennsylvania.
