At the 26th World Energy Congress, Huawei showcased its full-scenario solutions for the electric power sector to address challenges faced by power companies. These challenges are being tackled through the digitization of the power distribution network, focusing on the ‘last mile’ delivery of electric power to consumers. Huawei’s Intelligent Distribution Solution (IDS) utilizes cutting-edge technologies to optimize power distribution, enhance grid reliability, and integrate renewable energy sources.

The IDS architecture is based on a “cloud-pipe-edge-pipe-device” framework, incorporating on-premise private cloud, wired and wireless backhaul network solutions, edge computing units, and high-speed power line carrier communication. This approach enables real-time observations, helping utility providers optimize operations and improve customer satisfaction by predicting and preventing power outages.

The solution has been successfully implemented in China’s Shaanxi province, revolutionizing the management of distribution transformer districts and integrating residential and large-scale photovoltaic sites. With comprehensive power distribution network sensing and efficient management, State Grid Shaanxi has experienced improved reliability and customer service.

Initial test results in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East demonstrate the solution’s potential on a global scale.
