Leveraging Community Investment in Fiber-to-the-Home Network: Utility’s Grid Modernization Efforts

1. Tantalus Systems selected by Bolivar Energy Authority to modernize distribution grid with Grid Modernization Platform (TGMP)
2. TRUSense Gateway by Tantalus to be used to integrate distributed energy resources and improve power quality data analysis
3. BEA to present deployment plan of TGMP and TRUSense Fiber Gateway at upcoming American Public Power Association’s Engineering and Operations Conference in New Orleans

Tantalus Systems has been chosen by Bolivar Energy Authority (BEA) to modernize its distribution grid in Tennessee and Mississippi. The Grid Modernization Platform (TGMP) will utilize the TRUSense Fiber Gateway to integrate distributed energy resources and improve power quality data analysis. The TRUSense Gateway is compatible with various communication networks and is expected to enhance grid resiliency and efficiency. BEA aims to leverage its existing fiber network investment for improved grid operations and to support advanced applications.
TGMP offers a secure and flexible path to grid modernization, including a data management solution called TRUSync. By providing visibility, command, and control over devices across the distribution grid, including behind-the-meter devices, TGMP enhances a utility’s operations. Tantalus President and CEO Peter Londa expressed excitement about BEA joining their user community and highlighted the increasing trend of utilities embracing data to enhance grid modernization efforts.
BEA will present its deployment plan for TGMP at the American Public Power Association’s Engineering and Operations Conference in 2024. This conference will cover grid modernization initiatives, environmental issues, safety, and transmission and distribution for public power utilities in the U.S. Tantalus continues to support utilities in their grid modernization journey by providing innovative technology solutions.
