– Serrano project in Arizona will use First Solar’s Series 7 modules and NEXTracker’s tracking systems
– Powin Energy will provide the battery storage system for the project, with SMA and AESC also involved
– Long-term power purchase agreement is in place with Arizona Public Service, financed by CIBC and Societe Generale, with Athene Annuity as the tax equity investor
The Serrano solar project in Arizona will use First Solar’s Series 7 modules and NEXTracker’s tracking systems. Sungrow will supply the inverters and Powin Energy will provide the battery energy storage system (BESS) using their Centipede modular platform. The BESS will include equipment from SMA and battery cells from AESC.
The Serrano project will sell energy to Arizona Public Service under a long-term power purchase agreement. Financing for the project is coming from CIBC, Societe Generale, and Apollo Global Management affiliate Athene Annuity and Life Insurance Company. Arizona has been identified as a key growth market for Longroad, which has raised significant funds to become an owner-operator of renewable energy projects.
The Serrano project is one of four in Arizona that Longroad is developing with First Solar modules. The portfolio includes solar projects with battery storage, such as Sun Streams 3 and Sun Streams 4. These projects involve various companies like NEXTracker, Sungrow, Powin, SMA, and AESC, with McCarthy serving as the EPC contractor and NovaSource Power Services handling O&M duties.
Solar Media will host the Energy Storage Summit USA in March 2024 in Texas, featuring industry leaders discussing the market for energy storage in the country. For more information, visit the event website.
