US-based renewables developer Primergy Solar has secured a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with San Diego Community Power (SDCP) for its 400MW solar and 1.6GWh battery energy storage facility in Nevada. Scheduled for delivery in 2027, the Purple Sage Energy Centre project aims to supply 1.2 million megawatt-hours of carbon-free solar energy annually, benefiting 100,000 homes. The project is strategically located between Las Vegas and the California border and is expected to set new standards in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management.
This partnership forms a significant step towards grid stability and reliable energy generation, with Primergy CEO Ty Daul emphasizing the importance of battery storage systems. Primergy Solar’s financing success in November 2023, with $300 million secured for the Prairie Mist solar project in Arkansas, underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable energy development. The Prairie Mist project in Ashley County is the initial phase of a larger 300MW project slated for completion in stages by 2026.
