3. Rimac aims to become one of Europe’s largest BESS manufacturers by 2030 and will launch a manufacturing facility at its Croatia headquarters.
Rimac is set to establish a hub for technological innovation where it will manufacture its 790kWh SineStack battery energy storage system. The company first unveiled this product at Solar Media’s Energy Storage Summit CEE in September and officially launched it a month later. The initial units will be deployed in projects for Croatian renewable energy developer ENNA, according to the company’s head of business development. The SineStack boasts a distributed power conversion system, giving it superior cycle lifetime, AC round-trip efficiency, and energy density. Rimac plans to scale up manufacturing of the SineStack at its headquarters in Croatia with the goal of becoming one of Europe’s largest BESS manufacturers by 2030.
In other news, reports suggest that Chinese lithium-ion battery manufacturer EVE Energy is considering investing in a battery gigafactory in Coventry, West Midlands, as part of a new ‘UK Centre for Electrification’ technology zone. Initial investment for the project is estimated at £1.2 billion. This facility would likely cater to the EV sector, given that the Midlands region is home to manufacturing plants for several major automotive companies like Jaguar Land Rover and BMW. Rimac, known for its high-performance EVs and EV power components, is positioning itself as a key player in the evolving energy storage and electrification landscape.
