Polish company Industria has partnered with the UK’s Chiltern Vital Group (CVG) to accelerate the development of Rolls-Royce’s Small Modular Reactor (SMR) projects. Industria aims to utilize Rolls-Royce SMR technology to produce 50,000 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen annually in Poland. In addition, CVG plans to take over the Gloucester Science & Technology Park and create a net-zero and nuclear technologies campus using Rolls-Royce SMR technology.
CVG has also formed partnerships with Western Gateway, South Gloucestershire & Stroud College, the University of Bristol, and Vital Energi for this development project. The collaboration between Industria and CVG is seen as a positive step towards bringing Rolls-Royce SMR technology to fruition, with the potential to support innovative technology development by the early to mid-2030s.
President of the management board of Industria, Szczepan Ruman, emphasized the importance of SMR technology to achieve the goals of the Central Hydrogen Valley, highlighting the ability of SMRs to provide stable, affordable, and low-emission energy for industries and households. The collaboration with CVG is expected to bring significant financial resources and opportunities for employment development in Poland, the UK, and internationally.
