RWE and Microsoft Enter into Two 15-Year Power Purchase Agreements for Texas Wind Farms

– RWE secures two 15-year PPAs with Microsoft for 446MW of clean energy from new wind farms in Texas
– The wind farms, Peyton Creek II and Lane City, will use Vestas turbines and construction is led by Wanzek Construction and RES Energy Solutions
– The projects will create jobs during construction and add to RWE’s renewable capacity in Texas, bringing it to 4.8GW

RWE has secured two 15-year power purchase agreements with Microsoft to supply 446MW of clean energy from new wind farms in Texas. The agreements are part of Microsoft’s goal to use 100% renewable energy by 2025. The projects, Peyton Creek II and Lane City, will increase RWE’s renewable capacity in Texas to 4.8GW. The construction of the wind farms is underway, with each farm expected to create temporary and permanent jobs. RWE currently operates 33 renewable energy projects in Texas with a combined capacity of 4.3GW, and these new projects will further strengthen its presence in the ERCOT market and its renewables portfolio in the US. Both wind farms will utilize Vestas’ V163 4.5MW turbines, and construction is being led by Wanzek Construction and RES Energy Solutions. By partnering with Microsoft, RWE is contributing to a sustainable future by providing the clean electricity needed to achieve environmental goals.
