RWE has acquired three offshore wind projects in the UK from Vattenfall, located off the coast of Norfolk with a capacity of 1.4 GW each. These projects have secured key permits and rights, with plans for commissioning in this decade. RWE is welcoming the majority of Vattenfall’s Norfolk team to help with project delivery. The Norfolk Vanguard West and East projects are most advanced, aiming to secure a Contract for Difference in upcoming auctions, while the Norfolk Boreas project will resume development.

Sven Utermöhlen, CEO of RWE Offshore Wind, expressed excitement for the expertise of the Norfolk team and collaboration with supply chain partners. The focus is now on securing supplier agreements for key components and entering the projects in a Contract for Difference auction. The Spring 2024 issue of Energy Global magazine covers topics like battery storage solutions, renewables in Europe, electrical infrastructure, turbine monitoring, and more.
