RWE’s Robin Rigg Utilizes Cognitive Business for Bathymetric Tidal Application Integration

– Cognitive Business integrates bathymetric tidal application onto RWE’s Robin Rigg wind farm
– Application enables operators and planners to identify high and low tides around sandbank
– Technology packages from Cognitive Business optimize wind farm performance and profitability

Cognitive Business, a UK-based machine learning and applied A.I. innovator in the energy sector, has integrated a bathymetric tidal application onto RWE’s Robin Rigg wind farm. This integration allows operators and planners to identify high and low tides around the sandbank and high seabeds where the wind farm is located. The technology helps in plotting accessibility to individual turbines and supports efficient operation and maintenance activities.

The application contains 234 million bathymetric readings and can forecast tides and vessel keel data over the next 12 months. It extracts relevant data points to plot turbine accessibility on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule. This allows planners to assess risks and plan maintenance programs accordingly. The Managing Director of Cognitive Business, Ty Burridge-Oakland, highlighted their collaborative work with RWE to enhance wind farm performance and profitability.

In addition to the bathymetric tidal application, Cognitive Business had previously been appointed to provide artificial intelligence and forecasting technology to RWE’s wind farm. This included real-time operation tracking of maintenance vessels, production forecasting for profitable turbines, and pattern recognition for anomaly rectification. RWE’s Operations Co-ordinator, Gregg McConnell, emphasized the importance of these technology packages in optimizing site performance and profitability.

The announcement of the bathymetric tidal application follows Cognitive Business’s ongoing efforts to provide innovative solutions to RWE for driving efficiency in wind farm operations. This integration will enable RWE to continue achieving optimal performance levels and securing cost-saving opportunities through technology.
