1. TagEnergy and Harmony Energy’s Jamesfield battery energy storage system in Scotland has gone live.
2. The system utilizes Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries and Tesla’s Autobidder AI software.
3. This is TagEnergy’s third operational battery storage facility in the UK, with a total secured portfolio of 320MW/640MWh.
The Jamesfield battery energy storage system, a collaboration between TagEnergy and Harmony Energy, has become operational in Abernethy, Scotland. The project utilizes Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries with Autobidder AI software for real-time trading and control. RES is the asset manager for the 49MW/98MWh system. TagEnergy’s CEO, Franck Woitiez, highlighted the company’s commitment to the energy transition and the success of their storage projects in the UK.
The project, which began construction in November 2023, is TagEnergy’s third battery energy storage facility in the UK. It was developed as a joint venture with Harmony Energy, with funding support from Santander UK. This project, along with other storage projects under construction, increases TagEnergy’s secured portfolio in the UK to 320MW/640MWh. Harmony Energy’s CEO, Peter Kavanagh, emphasized the importance of battery energy storage systems in advancing the Net Zero transition in the UK and reducing CO2 emissions.
The completion of the Jamesfield BESS is seen as a significant milestone for both TagEnergy and Harmony Energy, following the success of their previous joint venture at Chapel Farm. These projects are crucial for stabilizing the grid, reducing dependence on foreign gas imports, and advancing a renewables-led energy future.
