Green Careers Texas and Restorative Farms have collaborated to build an outdoor classroom and training roof in Dallas, powered by solar energy components donated by SolarEdge. This facility will train individuals for jobs in solar installation while providing clean power for Restorative Farms’ operations, which supply fresh produce to the community. SolarEdge’s General Manager, Bertrand Vandewiele, expressed pride in supporting this transformative project and empowering communities with sustainable energy solutions.
Restorative Farms, located in a food desert in Dallas, integrates sustainable food production to address the community’s environmental, economic, and social needs. The farm faced adversity during a grid failure in 2021, resulting in the loss of crucial seedlings. The newly installed microgrid, featuring SolarEdge components, maximizes energy production and powers critical farm operations. It also serves as a hands-on training system for Green Careers Texas’s employment program, training individuals for future careers in solar installation and sales.
Tracy Wallace, Executive Director of Green Career Texas, praised SolarEdge’s technology for its design and functionality, which align with their goals. As Restorative Farms expands, SolarEdge’s flexibility will ensure the farm can easily provide enough energy for additional equipment. This partnership showcases the enduring impact of clean energy on livelihoods and the environment, paving the way for a greener and more resilient future in Dallas.
