Subeca, an IoT startup focused on smart water technology, recently secured $6 million in Series A funding led by SUEZ, a utility company based in Paris. The funding will be used to expand operations and meet the growing demand for their AMI solutions from small to medium-sized utilities. The round also included participation from Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund and Burnt Ventures.
Subeca offers an end-to-end IoT solution that includes a smart water meter register that can be easily installed on existing water meters in under a minute. This technology reduces the cost of meter reading operations for water utilities while providing valuable data and insights to both utilities and customers. The smart meter register devices, known as PIN, are connected to the AWS cloud via Amazon Sidewalk.
Due to the high cost and complexity of legacy technology solutions, a large number of utilities and businesses in the US do not have access to advanced metering and sensing technologies. Subeca aims to bridge this gap with their Blinc IoT module, which utilizes the Sidewalk network to assist customers in managing water infrastructure and detecting and resolving water leaks.
Industry leaders such as Beau Schilz from AWS and Joshua Cantone from SUEZ have expressed enthusiasm for Subeca’s innovative smart metering solution, which is set to revolutionize the water utility sector by providing accessible and efficient technology to a previously underserved market segment. Partnerships with AWS and SUEZ will help Subeca scale its offerings and expand its reach in the market.
