In an effort to expand their presence in Uzbekistan, Voltalia has entered into two partnership agreements to deploy Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the country. The first agreement involves extending the Sarimay project with a 50MW/100MWh BESS, with the sales contract expected to be signed in the summer of 2024. This expansion deal was initially signed in November 2023 during French President Macron’s visit to Uzbekistan. The second agreement focuses on the development of a larger 500MW/1,000MWh BESS complex, in collaboration with the Uzbek Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
CEO Sébastien Clerc emphasized Voltalia’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Uzbekistan through these partnerships. The company aims to construct and develop the BESS complex as part of this strategic move. For more information, the original version of this article can be found on PV Tech.
