Executives from TenneT and Elia appointed to Litgrid board

– Meyerjürgens and D’haene join Litgrid as independent board members
– They will focus on technology, digitization solutions, and business development management
– Litgrid is preparing for the synchronisation with Europe’s continental grid by February 2025

Lithuanian TSO Litgrid is preparing for the upcoming synchronisation with Europe’s continental grid by February 2025 by appointing TenneT COO Tim Meyerjürgens and Pierre-Henri D’haene, Belgian TSO Elia Group’s head of strategy, transformation and sustainability, to their board as independent members. The new board members will join existing members responsible for technology, digitisation solutions, and business development management.

Meyerjürgens and D’haene expressed their commitment to supporting the transformation of the European energy system and the development of infrastructure needed for the transition to renewables. They bring valuable experience from their work in Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States to help strengthen infrastructure development, system resilience, and promote digitisation within Litgrid.

TenneT and Elia Group are significant players in the European energy sector, with TenneT operating the electricity transmission network in the Netherlands and being one of the operators of the German electricity transmission system. Elia Group is the holding company that owns Elia Transmission Belgium, Eurogrid International, and Elia Grid International, positioning them as key players in the industry.

Lithuania, along with other Baltic TSOs, has agreed to disconnect from the Russian-controlled electricity system and synchronise with Europe’s continental grid, taking steps towards greater energy independence and efficiency. The collaboration between TSOs in the region demonstrates a commitment to aligning with European energy goals and promoting sustainability.
