First turbine at Lithuanian wind farm installed by Green Genius

– Green Genius has installed its first wind turbine in Jurbarkas district, Lithuania
– The wind park will consist of 11 wind turbines, each rising 240m above the ground
– The project will provide 80 MW of green electricity and save over 130,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually

Green Genius has completed the installation of its first wind turbine in the Jurbarkas district of Lithuania. The turbine, provided by Nordex Group, is part of a larger project involving a total of 11 turbines. The turbines, transported from Klaipeda’s port, will reach the wind park in 22 nights using 113 heavy-duty vehicles by the end of April 2024.

Each turbine consists of 13 main parts and stands at a height of 240 meters. The construction process for each turbine involves complex logistics, with transportation taking up to 48 hours and requiring night transport. The project is expected to contribute significantly to the region’s sustainability by providing a stable and efficient supply of green energy.

The Jurbarkas wind park required over 80 km of electricity cables and 880m3 of concrete for the foundations of the turbines. The park, with a total capacity of 80 MW, will supply green electricity to Lithuanian businesses, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 130,000 tonnes per year. Green Genius has invested over €100 million in the construction of the wind park. The first stage, with 11 turbines and 63 MW, is set to begin operation in 2025, with plans for a second stage of additional capacity.
