First turbine installed by Iberdrola and Masdar at Baltic Eagle

– First wind turbine successfully installed at Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm
– Partnership between Iberdrola and Masdar for the project
– Project on track to supply renewable energy to around 475,000 households by end of 2024

A joint venture between Iberdrola and Masdar has successfully installed the first of 50 wind turbines at the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm, which is set to become operational by the end of 2024. The wind farm will supply renewable energy to around 475,000 households and contribute to Germany’s clean energy transition. The remaining turbines will be transported to the construction site in the coming months and installed using the jack-up vessel Blue Tern. The wind farm will generate electricity from 50 Vestas V174-9.5MW wind turbines, each with significant output and advanced design features for efficiency and load minimization.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s vessel Blue Tern, with its specialized capabilities, is being used for the transportation and installation of the turbines. Baltic Eagle is an important part of Iberdrola’s Baltic Hub in the German Baltic Sea, supporting the company’s growth path and environmental commitments. The partnership between Iberdrola and Masdar involves significant investment in offshore wind and green hydrogen projects in key markets worldwide. The project aims to reduce carbon emissions and provide clean, renewable power to hundreds of thousands of homes, setting a precedent for sustainable energy solutions.
