Fugro Moves Self-Elevating Platform to Aid in Japan’s Expanding Offshore Wind Industry

Fugro has relocated its self-elevating platform (SEP) Amberjack to Japan in response to the country’s increasing demand for offshore wind geotechnical services. By reflagging the vessel in Japan, Fugro can streamline the deployment process and deliver geo-data more quickly to support Japan’s offshore wind industry growth. The Amberjack is now based in Tokyo and will provide geotechnical services such as borehole drilling, sampling, and in situ tests for wind farm projects in Japan, complying with international and Japanese standards.

This move is seen as crucial in meeting Japan’s target of developing 10 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 and 30-45 GW by 2040.
