1. Iberdrola and Bayer signed an off-site power purchase agreement in Italy for renewable energy from January 2025.
2. The agreement will supply 33 GWh of renewable energy over 11 years to Bayer’s Garbagnate Milanese site.
3. The energy will be produced by Iberdrola’s photovoltaic plant in Montefiascone, with a capacity of 7 MW, reducing carbon emissions and supporting environmental sustainability goals.
Iberdrola and Bayer have signed an off-site power purchase agreement (PPA) in Italy, starting in January 2025 and lasting for 11 years, totaling 33 GWh. This agreement expands the existing international alliance between the two companies, already present in Spain and Mexico. The renewable energy will be supplied by Iberdrola’s photovoltaic (PV) plant in Montefiascone, with a capacity of 7 MW, helping Bayer’s Garbagnate Milanese site to solely use renewable energy sources, aligning with their commitment to environmental sustainability. The plant is expected to prevent the emission of more than 3200 t of carbon dioxide, equivalent to the electricity demand of over 4000 households. This partnership showcases Bayer’s dedication to global carbon reduction targets set by the United Nations and the Paris Agreement.
The collaboration between Iberdrola and Bayer highlights the adoption of renewable energy sources to decrease environmental impact. By using energy from the solar plant in Montefiascone, Bayer’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions is evident. The PPA in Italy reflects both companies’ shared goal of achieving sustainable practices in line with global environmental agreements and regulations. With a focus on renewable energy, the partnership showcases a step towards a greener future and demonstrates a concrete effort to mitigate climate change.
