Researching Advanced Electric Vehicle Solutions: Innovating ‘Jerry Cans’ for Electricity

– Solus Power signs MoU with QinetiQ to develop advanced EV charging solutions for fleet charging and infrastructure
– Solus Power’s mobile charging solution ‘Kratos’ technology offers ruggedised Lithium-ion power units for ultrafast charging
– QinetiQ supports Solus Power in understanding the needs of defence and security customers globally for flexible EV charging solutions

Solus Power, a developer of EV charging solutions, has partnered with global defence and security company QinetiQ to create advanced EV charging solutions for fleet charging and infrastructure. The UK-based companies will collaborate to tailor their solutions to the specific needs of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) by utilizing their expertise in the field.

Solus Power’s mobile charging solution, called ‘Kratos’ technology, is at the center of their off-grid approach. The solution consists of stackable power units the size of attaché cases, which can be easily deployed and shared among users. These ruggedized Lithium-ion power units, referred to as ‘Jerry Cans of electricity’, offer ultrafast charging for EVs, drones, and equipment.

QinetiQ will support Solus Power by understanding the needs of defence and security customers globally and providing expertise in power sources and electrification. The need for flexible EV charging across diverse locations and infrastructure settings is a shared challenge in both the defence sector and civilian applications like airport parking and car hire management.

The collaboration between Solus Power and QinetiQ highlights the importance of sustainable and adaptable energy solutions in the evolving landscape of defence and security infrastructure. Both companies are excited about the opportunity to work together to innovate and address the growing demand for mobile EV charging solutions.
