RFP Launched by Dominion Energy Virginia for Solar and Storage Projects

1. Dominion Energy aims to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 through the deployment of 3.1GW of energy storage by 2035.
2. New aspect in this year’s RFPs for non-residential rooftop solar projects in Virginia’s urban centers to reduce grid load.
3. Requests for utility-scale, distributed and mechanically complete solar projects, as well as new onshore wind and BESS projects, are also included in the RFP.

Dominion Energy is aiming to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, which includes deploying 3.1GW of energy storage by 2035. This year’s request for proposals (RFPs) includes a new aspect in the solar category, specifically for non-residential rooftop solar projects in Virginia’s urban centers to reduce strain on the electric grid. The company is seeking rooftop solar projects under 3MW, utility-scale projects over 3MW, and distributed projects under 3MW, all located within Virginia. Additionally, proposals for mechanically complete projects under 5MW will be accepted. Other categories in the RFP include new onshore wind projects, onshore wind projects with battery energy storage systems (BESS), and standalone BESS projects.
