3. The platform will help SSEN expand its flexibility portfolio and accelerate its net zero plans by maximizing existing network capacity.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution has partnered with Electron to enhance its procurement of flexibility services through the use of the ElectronConnect platform. This three-year partnership will simplify the entry into the market for Flexibility Service Providers (FSPs) and provide new opportunities for both long-term and short-term flexibility. SSEN’s Flexibility Roadmap will guide the use of this platform to meet the needs of stakeholders.
The partnership with Electron comes as part of SSEN’s DSO Acceleration Action Plan, which identified the need for a new flexibility market platform by Spring 2024 to support further growth. The platform will facilitate the end-to-end procurement and contract management process with an intuitive interface. This aligns with SSEN’s Digitalisation efforts in transitioning to a DSO model and accelerating net zero plans.
Through collaboration with stakeholders, SSEN selected Electron’s platform to meet the requirements of its Distribution Network Options Assessment. The platform will enable the efficient utilization of existing network capacity and align with strategic investments to release further network capacity. Data migration to Electron’s platform will take place over the summer, with bidding windows accessible through ElectronConnect starting from August.
