Statera’s Proposal for 500MW Battery Storage Project in the UK

1. Statera’s Culham BESS is set to connect to the Culham substation in 2027.
2. The proposal will improve power security, resilience, and stability at Culham Campus.
3. The development will only impact 26% of the site and include re-establishing a registered park and garden with increased biodiversity.

Statera’s Culham BESS is set to connect to the Culham substation in 2027, as part of a broader upgrade to the electrical infrastructure at Culham Campus approved by National Grid. This connection will provide the campus with enhanced power security, resilience, and stability, aligning with UKAEA’s goal of establishing the campus as a leading fusion facility. The development will involve using 26% of the site, with 16 hectares designated for the creation of a registered park and garden featuring new woodland and grassland habitats, resulting in a 50% increase in biodiversity. Additionally, 170 native trees will be planted to restore a tree belt north of the site, contributing to the restoration of parts of the Nuneham Courtenay Park and Garden.
