The Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea, a 476MW project by Iberdrola and Masdar, has successfully installed the first of 50 Vestas V174-9.5MW turbines. The remaining turbines are set to be transported and installed in the second half of 2024 using the vessel Blue Tern. The turbines have a rotor diameter of 174m, hub height of 107m, and total height of 194m, with operations expected to commence by the end of 2024. Masdar acquired a stake in the project in 2023 and secured financing in March 2024. The wind farm is managed from the port of Mukran in Sassnitz, north-east of Rugen Island offshore Pomerania. Iberdrola Deutschland looks forward to contributing significantly to Germany’s energy transition with the completion of Baltic Eagle, the second offshore wind farm in their Baltic hub.
