TotalEnergies partners with Vanguard Renewables to expand development of renewable natural gas in the United States

– TotalEnergies and Vanguard Renewables create joint venture for RNG projects in the US
– Plan to advance 10 RNG projects with total annual capacity of 2.5 billion ft3
– TotalEnergies aims to produce 10 TWh of renewable natural gas by 2030

TotalEnergies and Vanguard Renewables have formed a joint venture to develop, build, and operate Farm Powered® renewable natural gas (RNG) projects in the US, with an equal ownership stake. This agreement was signed in New York with the presence of TotalEnergies’ Chairman and CEO, Patrick Pouyanné, and BlackRock’s Chairman and CEO, Larry Fink. Over the next year, they aim to advance 10 RNG projects with a total annual capacity of 2.5 billion ft3. The initial projects are underway in Wisconsin and Virginia, each producing nearly 0.25 billion ft3 of RNG per year. Following these, the partners are considering investing in a pipeline of about 60 projects nationwide, totaling 15 billion ft3/y. This partnership aims to accelerate the conversion of food biowaste into RNG, benefiting various sectors and providing a solution for companies looking to decarbonize their energy supply. TotalEnergies views this collaboration as a significant step towards achieving its goal of producing 10 TWh of renewable natural gas by 2030.
