– Meta is rolling out expanded generative AI tools for advertisers, including full image variations and text prompts
– There are concerns that the feature could be used to create products that don’t actually exist and potentially deceive consumers
– Meta also announced the expansion of its subscription service, Meta Verified, to new markets and the introduction of four different tiers with varying features.

Meta is now offering a greater range of AI tools for advertisers, like generating full image variations instead of just backgrounds, potentially creating non-existent product versions that could be used to deceive consumers. While Meta assures it has safeguards in place to prevent misuse, including filtering out inappropriate content, it acknowledges the risk of advertisers abusing the technology to create misleading ads. The feature has already rolled out, allowing advertisers to provide text prompts to customize image variations.

In addition to image customization, Meta is also adding text overlays and expanding features like image expansion to Reels on Facebook and Instagram. One advertiser, Casetify, reported a 13% increase in return on ad spend after using Meta’s GenAI Background Generation. Meta is expanding its Meta Verified subscription service for businesses to new markets, offering various tiers with features like a verified badge, account support, and more tools for profile enhancements and customer support. The service will soon be available on WhatsApp. All these generative AI features will be available globally for advertisers by the end of the year.
