– Tesla Cyberbeast truck auction at Sotheby’s Motorsport ending soon, bids exceeding $250,000
– Cyberbeast priced at $99,990, has 845 horsepower, 0-60mph in 2.6 seconds
– Tesla adds resale clause, Cybertruck reservations over 2 million, aims for 250,000 Cybertrucks/year by 2025
A Foundation series Cyberbeast, the most powerful and speedy version of the Cybertruck, is up for auction at Sotheby’s Motorsport. Bidding for the Cyberbeast started at $75,000 and has since reached over $250,000. The $99,990 price tag of the Cyberbeast reflects its 845 horsepower and ability to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.6 seconds. The seller, listed under the pseudonym ShibaInu, is auctioning the truck with no reserve, allowing bidders to submit offers with no minimum price requirement.
Tesla attempted to deter flippers by adding a resale clause to its sales agreement for the Cybertruck, which requires a $50,000 fee if the vehicle is sold within a year of delivery. Despite this clause, one reseller was able to auction off a Cybertruck for $244,500 to a Porsche dealer. However, subsequent auctions through vehicle wholesaler GiveMeTheVin saw lower bids as low as $171,000.
While the auction for the Cyberbeast is ending soon, those who miss out can still reserve a Cybertruck on the Tesla website with a $250 deposit, though they may have to wait in line due to over 2 million reservations. Tesla plans to offer early Cybertruck delivery for long-term shareholders and aims to produce 250,000 Cybertrucks annually by 2025, according to Musk.
