– Thinner iPhone expected to debut alongside iPhone 17 in September 2025
– Project D23 a major redesign that will cost more than iPhone Pro Max
– Rumors suggest potential model called iPhone 17 Slim with unique design features
Reports from The Information suggest that a thinner iPhone could be unveiled in September 2025 along with the iPhone 17, in a project called D23 which will be a major redesign costing more than the iPhone Pro Max. The iPhone 16 lineup is expected to be announced this September, although details are yet to be confirmed.
Rumors of a slim iPhone have been circulating since May, based on notes from analyst Jeff Pu. MacRumors speculates that one model could be called “iPhone 17 Slim,” with a display size ranging from 6.12 to 6.69 inches. Notable changes include the placement of the back camera at the top center of the phone, rather than the top left corner.
Apple recently launched a thinner iPad Pro at an event in May, promoting it as thinner than an iPod Nano. Reviewers have praised the new ultra-thin OLED display, with durability tests showcasing its strength, and reviewers highlighting its resistance to bending.
Despite these updates, Apple faces competition from other smartphone makers in the industry. iPhone revenue reported for the fiscal Q2 was $45.96 billion, a decrease of 10% year over year. Apple has not officially commented on the reported developments.
